Not Your Grandmother's Pearls

The pearl necklace is having a moment. And we are loving every minute of it!

According to a new report published by Allied Market Research, titled, “Pearl Jewelry Market the pearl jewelry market was valued at $12.8 billion in 2021 and is estimated to reach $42 billion by 2031.

It seems everywhere you turn there's another stunning pearl necklace or earring popping up in the fashion pages, on runways and even Hollywood's leading men. Not surprising as Hollywood's leading men from Harry Styles, to Timothee Chalamet, to Pharrel have all embraced this born again fashion must have.

While it may seem a beat off beat - it really isn't. Pearls were found in the tombs of ancient Egyptians. They were a symbol of significant wealth for the Romans. Greeks adopted them as a symbol for love and marriage while some of Europe's nobility made if an official law that pearls could only be worn by nobility.

King Charles I of England's lone teardrop-shaped pearl earring was alleged to be a stunner. It was a rare and desired shape made into a single dangling earring with a tiny gold crown topped with an orb and cross, most fitting for a future king. His massive pearl earring was so well known it founds it's way into Starz recent series Mary & George.

Whatever the reason, Charles wore his pearl earring in nearly every picture of him and the remainder of his life.
