Grab your favorite crew and discover the secrets behind high-end jewelry design in Key West’s premier candy necklace making workshop. Whether you are hosting a local group celebration or searching for a creative, hands-on experience during your island getaway, our private classes offer a relaxed, stylish environment to design a completely custom piece of jewelry.
Minimum of 4 people per class.
Learn Silk Cord Gemstone Knotting Techniques
In this interactive jewelry class, you will master the ancient art of hand-knotting semiprecious gemstones on genuine silk cord. Hand-knotting is a professional technique that allows your necklace to drape beautifully, protects your gemstones from rubbing together, and creates a safety net so you never have to worry about loose beads scattering across the floor.
Perfect for absolute beginners, we skip the frustrating steps so you can focus entirely on the joy of creating. You will choose from a vibrant, carefully curated palette of high-quality gemstones to design your own modern, colorful "candy" style strand, finishing your piece with a premium 14K gold-filled or sterling silver clasp.

Meet Your Instructor: Key West Craft Expertise
Hi, I'm Karen, the founder and maker behind Coral Strands Jewelry. I’m not technically "certified" in anything—unless you count a black belt in untangling knotted silk cords or a master's degree in keeping fabric glue off my own fingers. But I do know how to create a great experience.
Before trading sugar and butter for silk, gold, and gemstones, I spent my creative career building a successful wedding catering business featured in Forbes, Martha Stewart, and on the Cooking Channel. Crafting unforgettable, high-end experiences taught me the true value of detail—a principle that now guides every single workshop I host.
Now living and working exclusively in Key West, my workshops leverage my personal, everyday experience in professional, small-batch assembly. I provide premium materials, proven workflows, and patient guidance so you can skip the frustrating steps and jump straight into the joy of creating a stunning piece of functional art.
